Use a red plastic center locator (#70135 not included) to position the template accurately over pre-bored holes in the jamb for perfect alignment. Adjustable stops on the back of the template accommodate door jambs of 1-3/8” or 1-3/4” thickness. Secure the template to the door jamb with fine steel nails, then remove the locator and route the mortise using a 5/8” router template guide and a 1/2” mortising bit. Ideal for contractors and DIYers, this template ensures smooth, accurate cuts for reliable strike plate installation every time.
